Hi. On my Firestick, iam not able to access few applications due to geo-restrictions. So I thought of jailbreaking it to get the third-party app store. However, iam not assure of the legality of jailbreaking the Firestick. So, someone explain whether it is legal or not? and does it affect the performance of my device?
First of all, there is no such thing as a "jailbroken Firestick." By default, Amazon restricts users from installing third-party apps. However, with a few changes to the device settings, you can install .apk files easily. So technically, it is not jailbreaking the device; you're just installing apps from third-party sources with the necessary device settings.
At the same time, you must be aware that installing apps from outside sources must be done cautiously since some of these apps aren't optimized for streaming devices. Also, they could potentially pose security risks.
When it comes to performance, jailbreaking doesn't affect performance. However, make sure to keep your device lean and install only the required apps for a better streaming experience.
